Aquarium Hoh!!!
While I wanted to see the fish immediately, the other two quickly noted the new Ocean Science Center. So we crashed it.
The kid in the back wishes he had an awesome mosasaur
After watching the movie, we headed upstairs, where we were intercepted by a diver. I took a picture with him and Jerome. For some reason, it looks like Jerome is crying in the photo.
Umm...you're wet...and now I am too!
We got to feed some fish, but I think Jerome was a bit tramatized.
I'm damp!
Our trio got to watch "our" diver get into the water.
I'll get you, little Diver Man
Afterward, we got to touch moon jellies at the new Poles in Peril exhibit. Jerome, still troubled, took the opportunity to attack Europe.
Muahahaha!
Also, the exhibit displayed some cold-water animals, such as Arctic char, feather stars, and anchovies. We eventually migrated to the Blue Cavern exhibit, manned by the incredible Dee Ann.
Awesome
She gave a show about the animals in the exhibit while some divers explained how humans and animals interact in California waters.
I'll get you yet, wet Diver Man
Eventually, we made our way outside to the Molina Animal Care Center, which currently serves as a nursery for two new arctic fox brothers.
Bebeeeessss!
Several touch areas were also outside. Many were manned by knowledgeable volunteers.
Many of the animals were local tide pool animals, but some were quite large.
What's everyone looking at?
Holy cow!!!
Back inside, the garden eels were calmly resting in their burrows.
I can still see you...
Apparently, some art students had created some works based on different animals and concepts they had seen at the aquarium.
Wise words
Back to the animal side of things, the jellies were in fine form.
It's a fried egg jelly!
I...actually have a story behind the photograph. While I took it, a little girl came over to see the jellies. When she saw Jerome, she freaked out and ran over to me and grabbed my legs (she thought I was her mother). So, I had the opportunity to traumatize a kid twice in half as many minutes.
Over in Tropical, the fraternal unit seemed fascinated by the frogs.
Just hold still, Froggy
We were pretty tired and hungry by that point, so we headed over to...
L & L! Nothing completes a good day like Hawaiian katsu. Everyone was ready to kick back and relax. Except Jerome.
You're next, Japan
